At the end of our quaint and historic High Street in our picturesque village of Long Crendon stands our ancient Parish Church with the Chiltern Hills as a backdrop. For more than 800 years, it has been a place set apart for the worship of God and a focus for community life. Down the centuries, it has been and continues to be a place where all are welcome to share in its varied activities, to come and celebrate times of happiness and joy and to find support in times of sadness and suffering.

We seek to be a church in the community, for the community, so we look to provide something for everyone. There are both traditional and informal services; services that are designed for children and more meditative type services. We hope that you will find not only a warm welcome at St. Mary’s but feel valued and loved and want to take a part in the life of the church.

Our Vision

We are very conscious that we often fail to live up to our calling but we seek to:

  • Make you welcome
  • Be family friendly
  • Be practical and relevant for the 21st century
  • Help you explore answers to your deepest questions
  • Offer you time to stop and think in a busy life
  • Reflect the loving care of God from the cradle to the grave
  • Help you to make sense of the Bible and who Jesus is
  • Make sure your visit will be helpful and challenging
  • Help you to discover for yourself God’s love, acceptance and forgiveness
  • Make sure you can hear clearly

By doing these things we seek to:

  • Enhance the past
  • Cherish the present
  • Enrich the future
